Introduction

Do you want to earn both the Mermaid and Advanced Mermaid certifications and explore the sea as a mermaid? Then this combined course is ideal for you! From the basics of mermaid swimming to the highest-level techniques, you will master everything. You will also learn unique skills that make mermaid swimming a form of self-expression, distinguishing it from other branches of diving. You will experience open water mermaid swimming and discover breathtaking dive spots you may have only dreamed of. The course also teaches rescue techniques to make your mermaid swimming even safer. Additionally, you'll get insight into why we see, feel, and hear differently underwater and learn about freediving physiology.

The PADI Mermaid Swimming course includes the PADI Beginner Mermaid Swimming course, so you can start with this combined course without needing the separate beginner course.

Course Structure

The course consists of four segments: theory, online meetings, four protected water dives, and four open water dives in a mermaid tail:

•Online e-learning: Learn independently using PADI Mermaid and Advanced Mermaid eLearning. (Extra online lessons can be provided if English proficiency is limited.) You will learn about water physics, freediving physiology, mermaid swimming techniques, and safety knowledge. Advanced Mermaid eLearning covers open water environment differences, aquatic life, and open water safety. Each module ends with review questions required for theoretical completion.

•Online meetings: The first ~2-hour online session covers PADI Mermaid eLearning. Then protected water practice begins. The second ~1-hour online session covers Advanced Mermaid eLearning, then open water practice starts. Online theory sessions are held on Wednesdays from 18:00 to 20:00, allowing us to review the key topics together before the weekend's practical training. We recommend going through the materials beforehand so you can come prepared to discuss the most important points. If you happen to miss a live session, don't worry—the recordings will be available for you to watch anytime. Please make sure to complete the online exam at the end of the chapters before the practical training begins. In rare cases, session times may change; if this happens, we will notify you well in advance.

•Protected water dives: Dry warm-up and stretching, assembling equipment, proper mermaid tail entry, 4x45 minutes in the water. Safe weighting, surface techniques, basic self-rescue, breath-hold exercises, relaxation techniques, basic equalization, mermaid swimming techniques, buddy safety and rescue, correct tail exit. Underwater video footage is provided post-course with music.

•Open water dives: Dry warm-up, assemble equipment, correct mermaid tail entry at the site, 4x45 minutes in the water. Safe weighting, depth diving, equalization techniques, buddy safety and rescue, underwater video footage provided post-course with music.

After the Exam – How Deep Can You Dive?
